Men, be careful during sexual activity. A high risk of penile fracture has been detected during the holiday season.
Risks Increase at Christmas
A study published in December 2023 in Germany from 2005 to 2021 analyzed data from 3,421 patients with penile fractures. Key findings: during the Christmas period, the risk of penile fracture increases by 43%. The average age of patients was 42 years. Most cases occur on weekends and during summer.
Sexual Positions That Increase the Risk of Penile Fracture
Research published in the International Brazilian Journal of Urology showed that positions where the man dominates (including missionary and "doggy style"), are indeed associated with an increased risk of penile fracture.
Another study published in the Journal of Impotence Research found that "doggy style" accounts for 41% of penile fracture cases, followed by the missionary position (25%) and then the "woman on top" position.
Thus, the most dangerous positions are: "doggy style," "missionary," "woman on top."
Causes of Penile Fracture
The increase in penile injuries during the Christmas period is associated with several factors:
- holiday period and vacation
- people have more free time
- stress levels decrease
- overall sexual activity increases
The rise in penile fractures is observed not only during holidays but also during summer. This is related to increased activity, vacation mood, and experimentation in intimate life.
Weekends are also considered high-risk times. Peak injuries occur on Saturday night through Sunday morning, when people relax and attend parties or dates, and the atmosphere encourages more uninhibited behavior.
How to Avoid Injuries
Seasonal holidays and weekends are joyous, but euphoria should not lead to reckless actions. Remember that health and safety should be the priority.
- Moderate alcohol consumption helps maintain control over your actions and reduces the likelihood of traumatic situations.
- Choose comfortable and safe positions, especially during experimentation.
- Avoid dangerous places: narrow spaces, unstable surfaces, and extreme conditions.
If an injury does occur - seek medical attention immediately. Timely treatment helps avoid serious consequences and maintains the quality of intimate life.
