Sequoia: A Month After Germination

While we are preparing a big update for ‎the Sequoia app, I want to tell you about how the little Sequoia is doing. 🌱

About a month ago, I wrote that out of 9 seeds, 2 sprouted. Then I realized they would be cramped in the jar, so I transplanted one.

Unfortunately, it didn't take root in its new place and died. 🥀

There was only one left. But after a couple of days, the third one sprouted! I decided not to disturb it and left everything as it was.

Interestingly, there was a seed coat hanging on it. I know that it's forbidden to help young plants shed it. They have to do this by themselves.

Time passed, the sequoia grew, but the seed coat was still on the plant. It reached the point where mold formed on the seed coat, which spread to the young sprout.

As a result, the young sequoia got sick.

I removed it from the jar to protect the remaining sprout, realizing the mold could infect it.

Now, only one of the three sprouted sequoias is left. It has straightened up and is reaching upwards.

I'll have to transplant it to a bigger pot soon. 🏡
