Sequoia 1.5.3: Exercise Customization, Background Mode, and Welcome Screen

We’re excited to share the latest Sequoia update with some fresh features and improvements! Here’s what’s new in this ver:

Customizable Exercise Routine

Lately, we’ve been hearing from many our users who want more control over their exercise plans. Some prefer to stick to just one exercise, while others feel three isn’t enough. After consulting with our med team, we agreed: doing 1 exercise is better than none, and doing 5 won’t hurt, especially if it helps you progress faster and feels right for you.

So now, you’ll see a new settings icon next to the exercises on the main screen. Tap it, and you’ll be taken to a list of all available exercises. By default, three are selected based on your current course, but you can choose which ones work best for you. Each exercise also has a description, especially helpful for new users. You can keep just 1, or pick up to 5.

Background Mode

This was another popular request. Once you get used to the exercises, you don’t always need to watch the screen. Sometimes, you’d rather scroll through social media or do something else while exercising.

That’s why we’ve added a background mode - just like in music apps. You can switch to another app, and Sequoia will keep guiding you with voice prompts and vibrations, so you don’t lose track of what to do.

Welcome Screen

Our big goal is for Sequoia to become more than just a men’s health app - we want it to feel like a trusted friend. A place where men can find answers, support, and care. But trust takes time, and building that connection starts with small things, like personalization.

In the last release, we asked for user's name. Now, each time you open the app, we’ll greet you by name. It may seem like a small detail, but it’s these little touches that build real, meaningful connections.
