The Origin of Masturbation Day

In 1994, Jocelyn Elders was Chief Medical Officer of the United States and was speaking at a UN conference on AIDS. She was asked whether it was appropriate to teach children about masturbation as one safe way to experience sexual satisfaction. Elders responded that it was a part of human sexuality and must be prepared. A scandal occurred, and she was dismissed from her post. However, Elders was supported by Good Vibrations sex shop by offering her to lecture on sex education and also by declaring May as the month of masturbation!

From 1995 to 2005, Masturbation Day was celebrated on the 7th of May; since 2005, the date has been changed to the 28th of May.

The Purpose of the Day and Month of Masturbation

The purpose of masturbation day and month is to protect the right to masturbate. After all, masturbating is okay if it doesn't become an imposition and isn't the only way to get pleasure.
